Tom Brink
elder
Tom and Nancy Brink joined DEC in 1980 when they moved to the area from Maine to work with InterVarsity in New Hampshire. They live in Lee, NH where they raised their four daughters, who are now busy raising their 9 grandchildren in Dover and the Northshore of Boston.
Tom met the Lord at the University of Maine as a freshman as he was studying Wildlife Management and Civil Engineering. Quickly after meeting the Lord, he met Nancy as an incoming student studying Forestry. They got married soon after college and responded to the call of God to love college students in the name of Jesus. Over the past 45 years Tom has directed the InterVarsity work in New Hampshire, first as campus staff, then as Area director of Maine and NH, and then as New England Global Engagement Director, overseeing ServeUP and International programs. Tom and Nancy have led college students on Short-Term Trips to countries like: Uganda, Honduras, the DR, Turkey, Armenia and the Philippines. Through ServeUP, over 9000 New England students have served rebuilding homes on the Gulf Coast post-Katrina, with half of those students hearing the gospel for the first time. Tom graduated in 1998 from Gordon-Conwell Seminary with a Masters of Divinity degree.
Nancy has served at DEC in many capacities: spearheading MOPS, leading the Global Outreach Team and at present, co-leading the Women's Bible Study.
Tom has loved the body of Christ at DEC over the years as a Small Group Leader, Global Outreach member and Elder at two previous times.
In their new season of retirement, Tom and Nancy lead Spiritual Pilgrimages to Ireland and Scotland exposing participants to God's work in and through Celtic Christianity. They also love hiking, skiing, pickleball, and anything outdoors. They also enjoy being with their 9 grandkids.
It is a privilege to walk into a role again where humility is a place of grounding for those in leadership.
"I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God , who loved me and gave himself for me." Gal 2:20
