Shanna Long

Children’s Ministry Elementary Coordinator

Shanna grew up in a small town in western New Hampshire and studied Elementary Education at Keene State College. She went on to teach for seventeen years, spending the last twelve teaching fourth grade at Portsmouth Christian Academy. In the fall of 2025, she felt the Lord prompting her to leave classroom teaching behind. She completed her final year in the classroom without knowing exactly what the Lord would call her to next. She is excited to step into this new role at the church, where she can continue pursuing her passion for working with and teaching children, especially as she shares the love of Jesus with them.

Shanna has been part of the DEC body since the fall of 2014. Over the years, she has regularly participated in community groups, served on the content team, and volunteered with the high school youth group, children’s ministry, and Kids Kamp. She has also had the opportunity to serve on two short-term mission trips with the church to Haiti and Belize.

Shanna married her wonderful husband Ben in September of 2026, and they are looking forward to settling into married life together. She loves being an “auntie” and enjoys spending time with family and friends, baking, reading, and taking walks on the beach.
