Durham Evangelical Church (DEC) seeks an energetic, passionate, and godly man for the position of Senior Pastor. The successful candidate will lead the preaching and teaching ministries of the church and foster a culture of love for Jesus and obedience to His word throughout the congregation. This individual will also partner with the elders, church leaders, staff, and church members to design, communicate, and implement a strategic vision for ministry that is consistent with the Word of God and mission of DEC.
DEC is located only a few miles from the University of New Hampshire, a vibrant academic community with a large student population. With approximately 600 regular attendees, DEC is multi-generational and outreach-oriented. DEC is a conservative Baptist church with a heart for worship, community, and proclamation of the Gospel locally and globally.
The church is located in Durham, which is on the Seacoast of New Hampshire—a desirable place to live and raise a family. Durham is part of the Oyster River Cooperative School District, which is one of the top school districts in the state. Additionally, the largest Christian day school in New England, Portsmouth Christian Academy, is only a few miles from the church. Durham is located about an hour from Boston (to the south) and Portland, Maine (to the north). It is also a short drive to the White Mountains of New Hampshire and just 15 minutes from the ocean.
Demonstrated capacity to fearlessly exposit the ideas of God as revealed in Scripture and communicate them in a way that changes lives and glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ
Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with church leadership, church members, and the larger secular and Christian community
Master of Divinity from an accredited theological seminary
Multiple years of ministry experience, preferably in a pastoral role within a church context
Supervisory experience of other pastors and/or staff
