Looking for a place to serve at DEC?  The Assimilation Team is looking for people to usher and greet, staff the information centers, and assist in the preparation and serving of food and snacks.  It is a great way to meet and get to know people.  If you are interested in finding out about these opportunities email assimilation@durhame.org and one of the team members will contact you.

Looking for an opportunity to serve?  Why not come join us for a few days of hard work as we take care of the blessing God has given us in the dec building?  We’ll be re-roofing the church roof above the upper entry and nursery on Friday, Saturday, and Monday, October 9, 10, and 12. We need people of all skill levels to join us, so please come for one, two, or even three days to help!

We’re changing and “re-visioning” the Worship Ministry, and there’s a place for everyone. We have areas of service ranging from entry-level to skill-required positions.  Musical, non-musical. Technical, non-technical. On-stage, off-stage. Large venue, small venue. Computer-literate or not. Weekly or periodically.

If you’ve ever had a heart for worship or serving in some kind of worship-related field, friends, this is the meeting to attend.

On Saturday, August 29 the dec 20 Somethings will serve the residents of Bellamy Fields by playing games with them and doing crafts.  Interested?  Meet at the Portsmouth Christian Academy parking lot at 1:55pm, to car pool over to Bellamy.

After Bellamy, we head over to Cafe on the Corner around 4pm for fellowship, snacks, and board games.

dec’s Service Response Team (SRT) is looking for willing servants to help paint, roof, deck, and do various finish work on the duplex this summer.  Whether you’re an experienced carpenter or completely new to handy-work, we’d love for you to come and serve the Lord with us.  You can serve at any time, or come on group work days for maximum fellowship.  Our next scheduled workdays are on July 11th and July 25th, from 8AM to 4PM.  Lunch will be provided.  Interested but need more info?  Please email us at srt@durhame.org.

Are you excited about worshiping God?  Do you want to use your gifts to glorify the Lord? Then come to dec’s Worship Ministry Open House on June 25th from 6:30 to 9:30 PM.  We’re looking to build a team that can help the church express their worship to God when we gather together.

This is an information, no-commitment meeting, held during our regular rehearsal time, for those who would like to use their gifts to serve in the band, with the choir/singers or in one of our other areas of ministry, including:

• lyric projection (basic computer skills needed; training on MediaShout software provided)
• sound technician (previous experience a plus; training to be provided)
• sermon CD duplication (training provided)

We hope everyone who is interested will come out to this informational evening of fun, worship, and vision-casting.  At dec, it’s our goal to get everyone involved in the place that is most suited to their gifts.  It’s also our goal to grow the worship ministry for the things God has in store for us in the future. So join us!

ChildVoice International invites you to join a short term mission trip to the Lukodi Centre in Northern Uganda., August 15-31
Serve the Lukodi Centre in a variety of ways:

• Medical Clinic – with or without medical experience, help with community outreach. Agriculture program – help with crops, livestock, and other farm chores
• New Kulubel land development – help is needed implementing this new master plan.
• Lukodi Centre – Visit the new class of 15 girls and their babies. Help by counseling, vocational training, coaching and teaching music and learning activities.
• Explore Uganda – Visit the local IDP camps, hospitals, churches,and a game park. Accommodations vary – a hotel in Gulu or a hut at the Lukodi Centre.

Cost: $1500 airfare plus about $2000 in-country fees.

Our Global Outreach partnerships in Haiti, Uganda, Peru, and Mali need donations to help the less-fortunate in their countries. You can be a part of the effort to help by purchasing some of the needed items, packing them up and labeling which ministry they’re intended to help (Uganda, Haiti, Peru, or Mali), and leaving the donated package in the purple skirted basket in the upstairs hallway.
